Bob Tinker, CEO of MobileIron confirms the company is in late stage discussions with a top tier mobile network

API offers integration between mobile device management with third party apps

Mobile device management software vendor MobileIron has launched a new version which opens up its technology to allow partners to integrate with third party apps. Virtual Smartphone Platform 3.0 release which allows extensive provisioning, monitoring, roaming management and lockdown of smart phones and other mobile computing platforms will be available to partners in mid-September.

The new XML based API allows the MobileIron platform to exchange data with third party systems such as helpdesk, business intelligence and security information management systems.
Mobile carrier announcement
In the UK, the firm has recruited “more than five, but less than 10 partners” according to Bob Tinker, CEO of MobileIron and is committed to a single tier distribution model. Tinker also confirms that the company is in late stage discussions with a top tier mobile network carrier and that major announcements will be forthcoming over the next few weeks.

The new version, which supports Blackberry, iOS, Symbian, Windows, Android is in his view still the only multiplatform software in the space.  The CEO also notes the recent purchase of MacAfee by Intel as a boost to his firms cause.
Competition
Just weeks before Intel bought MacAfee, the security firm acquired Trust Digital, a rival of MobileIron. Although Trust Digital is now part of Intel, Tinker believes his firm's more focused approach will allow the company and its partners to grow market share while its key rival goes through reorganisation.

Through its partners, Tinker indentifies several prominent multi-thousand seat wins in Europe that he believes are just the tip of the iceberg in a market that is growing rapidly. Although with just 70 global customers, the market is still relatively small but the proliferation of smart phones entering corporate IT networks, Tinker believes that demand will increase rapidly.
