Hammer expands fibre channel
Storage distributor Hammer has signed a Europe-wide deal with SmartOptics to deliver the Norwegian manufacturer’s range of optical and electrical transceivers, passive optical multiplexers and CWDM/DWDM transmission equipment.
Jason Beeson, solutions sales director at Hammer, says: “SmartOptics will enable our resellers to significantly expand their 8Gb Fibre Channel user base and help their customers achieve the most from their optical links, or when they need to carry differing technologies over long distances.”
Hammer says the introduction of SmartOptics’s 8Gb portfolio will provide “a simple and low cost” alternative to stand alone DWDM. All optics come with DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) as standard which enables the user to establish what is happening on the transmission link without the need for a separate Network Management System, and ‘embedded’ CWDM helps create a ‘green’ datacentre.
