Veeam targets MSPs and cloud partners with new programme
Veeam Software, which provides data protection, disaster recovery and systems management solutions for VMware (NYSE: VMW) virtual datacentre environments, has launched a customised partner programme for service providers and cloud computing firms.
The vendor claims its ProPartner Service Provider (PSP) programme will help create new revenue opportunities and provide their partners’ clients with additional service offerings. It also says its solutions will help PSP partners better protect and manage their VMware environments and reduce their infrastructure costs through management automation.
“Managing a multi-tenant VMware environment is not easy,” says Rick Hoffman, VP of channels and alliances for Veeam.
Different needs
“Service providers and cloud computing providers must ensure all resources are efficiently used, even while demand is fluctuating. At the same time, they must meet service level agreements (SLAs) and keep costs low. Their requirements are very different from resellers and system integrators, which is why we developed this programme. It enables providers to use our products in ways that more closely match their needs and business models. That might include a new service offering, different SLA options or a monthly rental instead of traditional licensing agreement—whatever it takes to match their business objectives and serve their clients.”
Veeam argues that most management tools for VMware only offer an IT-centric view of the virtual infrastructure and don’t allow virtual resources to be managed or prioritised by business needs, such as customer or SLA.
However, Veeam gives service providers a view of their multi-tenant infrastructures and enables them to perform capacity planning and provide chargeback reports on resource allocation and utilisation per client or per application (Veeam Reporter Enterprise plus Veeam Business View). It also allows them to offer different SLA data protection and DR with different recovery point and recovery time objectives (RPOs and RTOs) (Veeam Backup & Replication) and monitor performance by customer or application, as well as deliver on SLAs by customer or server type (Veeam Monitor plus Veeam Business View).
