HP has launched two new products in its growing StorageWorks

New P2000 and P4000 systems targets SMBs and mid- market.

HP has launched two new products in its growing StorageWorks range. The new HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 Modular Smart Array (MSA) is an entry-level array System equipped with an 8-gigabit Fibre Channel controller aimed at lowering the entry point for channel partners targeting branch offices and small and medium business. The new P2000 scales up to 192TB and is priced around the sub $10,000 price point

HP has also launched a P4000 G2 SAN, based on its acquired Lefthand product. With new Network RAID features, HP claims the device will dramatically reduces the amount of storage space consumed and is aimed at midsize and enterprise customers looking for resilient storage scaling to around 300TB across multiple nodes managed from a single platform.

Both new models include optional iSCI interfaces, a technology, Richard Masterson, country manager for HP StorageWorks UK&I believes is “growing significantly in popularity” with “iSCSI overtaking fibre channel” in terms of adoption.

In April, HP will announce new dates for its Training Academy and courses covering the new products as well as the firms’ data protection offerings. The invitation-only events are chargeable at around £300 per attendee. Masterson also hinted at further HP announcements around data duplication later in the year.
