Acronis targets midmarket with deduplication offering
Storage vendor Acronis is bringing data deduplication to the lower end of the enterprise with the launch of its latest portfolio of disaster recovery software.
Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is the next generation of the Acronis True Image solution. It offers data deduplication, which can cut storage requirements by up to 90 percent by eliminating backup copies of redundant data, but until now has been reserved for larger organisations due to its high cost.
“Deduplication isn’t common in the midmarket because it is usually expensive; there are very few products out there that are targeted at smaller organisations. We are introducing an affordable solution to the market. It’s a software-only solution that’s easy to maintain and deploy and manage. This will be a key differentiator for most of the partners that work with us,” executive VP EMEA at Acronis, Laurent Dedenis told Channel Pro.
The firm operates totally through the channel, and Dedenis believes the product’s deduplication capabilities will give its partners a competitive edge.
“Channel partners are key to our strategy to bring our products to end users. It’s the only realistic and viable way we see to continue to expand in the years to come,” he says.
