Logicalis bolsters video business with acquisition

Logicalis is wrapping up a deal to acquire Direct Visual Limited, UK-based supplier of video solutions and managed services.

The acquisition of the Tandberg Platinum Partner expands Logicalis’ managed and hosted video business, leveraging the combined Cisco/Tandberg solutions set that includes desktop video, integration of video and unified communications and collaboration, room systems, and telepresence solutions.

Tom Kelly, managing director of Logicalis UK, explains: “Video has been an important market for Logicalis for some time, and as we look forward, we expect video to become an ever more important part of our integrated Unified Communications and Collaboration (iUCC) solutions and services portfolio…with the acquisition of Direct Visual, Logicalis now offers a compelling proposition to the UK market.”

Direct Visual was one of the first video providers to the users of the Joint Academic Network (JANET), to which Logicalis recently connected its datacentre and cloud offerings. Logicalis says it intends to also use the firm’s capabilities in video to rapidly expand a new portfolio of ‘knowledge collaboration’ solutions and services; specifically in the financial, retail, and professional services industries.
