Long-standing PC builder ceases trading as recession and tablet adoption hits hard

More worrying news to come out of the recession as award-winning PC builder Mesh has called in the administrators.

Macintyre Hudson is the administrator in charge of proceedings as much of Mesh's assets have been sold to components distributor PC Peripherals. The administrator has also stated that PC Peripherals has promised to support customers whose purchases were under warranty. However, it is not bound to repair any PCs that are faulty outside of the warranty period.

On the deal, PC Peripherals owner Reza Jafari says: “We are pleased to have completed this acquisition and see it as an excellent platform from which to develop our business. Mesh Computers' 25 year history of manufacturing in the UK is a solid foundation to build from and we are looking forward to investing and moving into our next phase of growth."

Other news regarding the Mesh brand is that PC Peripherals does apparently intend to continue shipping PCs under the brand name, and that any refunds sought for purchases before that date should be directed to customers' credit card company or via the Proof of Debt form found on its website.

It seems that the recession and increased adoption of the tablet format PC have hit Mesh hard and the news does also call into question the future of the desktop PC.
