VIP to offer retailers cloud storage in a box
The box software has a “healthy” margin according to Lynch and has only one similar product in the market, an OEM version of Livedrive under the ‘Techguys’ brand.
In terms of the product, Livedrive has a couple of compelling selling points. Lynch highlights that users have unlimited storage and retrieval, built in data backup software and support for PC, iPhone and Blackberry all for a single yearly fee. “All the support is handled by Livedrive and the software is so simple my 80 year old grandmother could use it,” claims Lynch.
Dominic Cross, sales director at Livedrive adds, “We are extremely excited about our distribution agreement with VIP Computers. Resellers across the UK have been calling out for a boxed version of our product for a long time, and we know there’s a huge market out there for it. We think that Livedrive Backup should become as ubiquitous as a virus killer – it should be sold alongside every PC – and we think that this agreement with VIP Computers is a vital step towards achieving this.”
Although component distribution is in a slump, Lynch points out that there are some growth areas around new 802.11n devices, low-end network attached storage and netbooks.
