Imago sees overseas success
Video communications specialist distributor Imago Group has seen its international operations nudge sales ahead of the UK for the first time.
Imago has subsidiaries in France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, South Africa and China, and collectively the performance across the six countries and the UK resulted in an 18 percent increase in turnover for the Group. Overseas sales moved slightly ahead of the UK with UK turnover at £19,269,499 and overseas at £19,435,605.
The results support Imago’s strategy of internationalisation, which saw its overseas turnover increase by 67 percent between 2007 and 2009, and sales have been growing rapidly since the company opened its first overseas office in France in 2002.
“We have always had a close eye on the international opportunity and I anticipate that the gap between our overseas and UK sales will continue to grow,” says Ian Vickerage, managing director of Imago.
“Last year we were the only company in the video communications sector to be included in The Sunday Times International Track 100. This gives a pretty good indication of how important our overseas operation is to us, and we will be looking at further expansion in the year to come.”
Despite being the rise in international sales, the firm says demand for video conferencing products has enabled Imago UK to continue to grow through last year’s economic difficulties. It says sales are particularly strong on video conferencing products from Polycom (NASDAQ:PLCM) and internet video solutions from Amino and VIPtv.
“Overall we are on course to break previous sales turnover figures this year,” adds Vickerage. “In the UK we have beaten the recession and in other territories, such as Spain, which have borne the brunt of the economic crisis, we are still experiencing strong and accelerating growth.”
