Magirus named first EMEA distributor for virtualisation firm Veeam
Pan European VAD Magirus has further solidified its position as a virtualisation specialist with the addition of another vendor to its portfolio, virtualisation management software firm, Veeam.
Magirus, also VMware’s largest distributor in Europe, will supply the entire Veeam software portfolio, targeting resellers that manage and optimise virtualised infrastructures (including back up and replication). The firm points to the continued growth in the virtualisation space, despite the current economic crisis.
“Merrill Lynch’s recent CIO Survey suggests that the number of virtualised servers is expected to double in the next two years to 59 percent showing that virtualisation still remains a strong business opportunity for resellers in 2009,” Christian Magirus, executive VP and COO told Channel Pro.
“Also, as organisations try to do more with their virtual machines, i.e. do more with less - we will see growth of the virtualisation management tools market. Veeam is a strong player in this area and as such, is a strong and complementary addition to our virtualisation, storage, secure networking and services portfolio, providing resellers with greater choice and an opportunity to differentiate.”
Currently, Veeam’s portfolio of management tools is dedicated to the predominant VMware ESX server environments. The software provides the ability to backup, report and document, configure and monitor virtualised systems. This, says Magirus, allows resellers to create additional value to their end-users’ implementations and increase margins and service opportunities on every VMware sale.
One of its software products, Veeam Backup, combines backup and replication in a single product for fast file-level or bulk recovery of VMware ESX servers, and has an intelligent de-duplication feature that reduces the amount of data transferred and therefore lowers the amount of bandwidth needed.
The firm also says that resellers have the opportunity to make additional revenue by offering its nworks connectors to customers that have already invested in systems management tools from HP and Microsoft, allowing them to directly manage VMware.
Says Ratmir Timashev, president and CEO, Veeam Software: “This partnership perfectly complements our commitment to the channel by ensuring that resellers who work with Magrius now have a one-stop-shop for VMware and the best management tools for VMware."
