However, partners aren’t satisfied with the support they get from vendors
A survey of the UK’s top 30 IT resellers, says that an overwhelming majority – 82 percent – believe cloud-based solutions were very important for their business.
According to the poll by COMPRiS Channel Management, almost all (94 percent) of the resellers questioned are now selling cloud-based solutions, showing its role within the IT world.
Despite this, there is still a way to go for it to become as important as traditional hardware and software as only 13 percent said that more than 50 percent of their revenues were from cloud-based solutions.
This may be due to the lack of support from vendors, as 44 percent stated that the education they received to help sell cloud-based solutions was either poor or average.
Respondents, which were selected based on revenue, stated that more/better training, more synergy between the vendors and themselves and better commercial offers were required from vendors. Interestingly, none of the partners raised better collateral, more/better leads or better technical support as part of this lack of support.
Surprisingly, resellers aren’t as concerned about security as the wider business community. Almost a third (29 percent) didn’t see it as concern.
The report summarises that cloud will continue to play a major role in the IT industry, and specifically among the partner community with many expecting significant growth in 2014.
