Intrinsic overhauls IT infrastructure for £42m campus

Unified communications and cloud computing specialist Intrinsic Technology has completely overhauled the IT infrastructure of Furness College (pictured) for a new £42m campus.

Intrinsic worked with Microsoft, Cisco and Citrix on the project, which saw Intrinsic update the college’s networks, implement a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and unify its communications.

All systems are supported by Fusion, Intrinsic’s managed service offering. It monitors and maintains the infrastructure, and has consequentially allowed the college to extend its hours of IT support into the evening, says the firm.

Says Dave Griffiths, head of corporate sales at Intrinsic Technology: “The solution we’ve implemented is centred on flexibility. Furness College offers such a wide range of education and training that the IT infrastructure needed to cater for this – with an easily accessible, shared network. The state-of-the-art new building deserved an equally advanced solution – and our initiatives will help them continue to offer excellence in teaching and learning.”
