New service aims to add value as CDG grows product portflio

Distributor CDG UK has launched a range of services to help its channel offer new technology solutions.

Under its Channel Innovator Programme the firm hopes to encourage partners to become, “more agile in how they take on new technology,” says Chris Patton, commercial director at CDG UK

The distie currently supports 10 vendors in the data and enterprise application space serving a community of around 65 mid-sized channel partners. According to Patton, CDG is also preparing to announce two new partnerships across mobile device and applications management as well as online backup and recovery.

Through an expanded internal team, CDG will provide seminars to its partners to introduce new technology on both sales and technical tracks. These events are planned at both its headquarters in Berkshire and in local venues closer to regional partners.

The distie is also offering Innovation Analysis Audits to gain earlier involvement in customer projects to assist in technical scoping and design. The last element is a new technology is a “due diligence” service where partners can ask for technologies to be compared against a CDG supported vendor for a comparative analysis.

Patton says CDG is committed to increasing both its sales and technical team by around 20 percent to deliver the new programmes. He also expects its channel to grow in size but maintains, “We are never going to be a massive operation,” believing CDG can excel through more value-add. “Get niche, get big or get out,” he quips.

Comments Sam Routledge, solutions director at VAR Softcat: “We are great believers in the ability of companies like CDG UK to find innovative solutions, to incubate new technology vendors and help us to bring them to market.

“Any initiative that helps us to innovate and to get up to speed quickly with interesting and useful solutions is a good thing."
