Gem adds SMB videoconferencing
With a £500 RRP and subsequent yearly £200 per annum subscription, the new telyHD BE video calling solution is designed for business users at what the firm claims is “a fraction of the price of other video based telephony systems…” such as Cisco.
“Gem is one of the largest hardware and software distributors in the market place and will provide substantial reach to our target audience. Their sales team will enable us to deploy Tely Labs consumer and business edition units into key markets including SMBs,” said Sreekanth Ravi, CEO of Tely Labs.
According to Ravi, businesses are facing unprecedented financial challenges and increasing telecom costs with SMBs often “priced out of the market”. telyHD BE uses an Android platform and proprietary video technology to deliver a high quality video and audio experience that can connect up to six offices simultaneously in a multi-party video call while simultaneously sharing desktops and collaborating on documents.
The appointment of Gem Distribution forms part of Tely Labs ongoing UK expansion programme and the agreement will see the distributor roll out a comprehensive sales and marketing initiative, including focus from its field sales team to drive awareness and product positioning.
Gem has traditionally offered only consumer-grade videoconferencing solutions, most notably the Microsoft LifeCam range. But according to Anthony Haworth, purchasing director at Gem Distribution, the distie is extending its reach into new sectors of the market including audio/visual and video cameras. “Tely Labs is a powerful, innovative, product solution that complements our existing portfolio. We are also keen to adopt and increase incremental business within our business divisions, in particular SMB markets. Tely Labs seems an ideal choice for us and our customer base.”
