Advanced Computer Software Group plc acquires Serco Learning for £7.25m
UK business software firm Advanced Computer Software Group has gained a stronger foothold in the education sector with the acquisition of Serco Learning for £7.25m.
Serco Learning will be incorporated into the Advanced Business Solutions (Public Sector & Enterprise) division, which has almost 50 higher education customers and more than 80 local government customers.
A part of Serco Group plc, Serco Learning is the number two supplier of management information systems to the UK education market, providing training and support to 2,000 academies, independent schools and higher and further education providers. In the year ended 31 December 2011, it had sales of £13.5m.
Well-known entrepreneur and chief executive of Advanced Computer Software Group plc, Vin Murria (pictured), says the acquisition provides the Group with a significant presence within the education software sector across the UK and Ireland.
“Serco Learning has an impressive range of software solutions which are critical in helping a wide range of education facilities to intelligently manage their information,” she comments. “We are excited about strengthening our presence in the education market and the up-selling and cross-selling opportunities this acquisition provides.”
In addition to Business Solutions, which offers accounting, payroll, HR and document management software, Advanced Group has a Health & Care business, which provides products to the NHS and the private healthcare sector, and Advanced 365, which delivers managed services to support the Group’s products.
Last week the company said it had fully integrated managed services provider Fabric Technologies into its Advanced 365 business, after its acquisition earlier this year.
