Magirus' Kevin Collins says the two new VCAP certifications will help to bridge the skills gap between VCP and VCDX

Magirus adds advanced datacentre VMware training courses to its specialist Virtualisation Training Practice

Magirus is offering resellers advanced VMware (NYSE:VMW) certifications after increasing the number of virtualisation training courses in its portfolio.

As resellers obtain more advanced qualifications, there are more opportunities for licence sales and rebates from VMware under the VMware Partner Network programme, says the firm.

Magirus saw a 63 percent increase in delegates at its VMware training courses from Q3 to Q4 in 2010. The addition of the five new courses provides a stepping stone between VMware’s existing entry-level VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification and the more advanced VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certification.

The courses assist resellers to extend their skills and capabilities to meet evolving customer requirements. With virtualisation still top of the IT agenda for most companies in 2011, the new training and certification levels give resellers a deeper knowledge and expertise in more complex VMware virtualisation solutions for the datacentre.

“Demand for advanced virtualisation training is sky high, says Kevin Collins, solutions development manager at Magirus. “There is a large skills gap between VCP and VCDX accreditation, meaning there are only 50 VCDX accredited experts worldwide and only a handful of these are in the UK. The two new VCAP certifications will help to bridge this gap.

“Our new courses will help resellers to obtain these qualifications to keep ahead of the competition and earn substantial rebates. Also, they enable resellers to stay one step ahead of customers who are already VCP accredited,” he adds.

The courses now offered by Magirus include: VMware vSphere: Troubleshooting; VMware vSphere: Manage for Performance; VMware: Automation with PowerCLI; and VMware: Manage & Design for Security, in preparation for VCAP-DCA; and VMware: Design Workshop in preparation for VCAD-DCD.
