Admiral sells copier business to Danwood Group to focus on telephony, IT & videoconferencing

Office technology reseller Admiral Group today revealed it is to sell off its copier division to the Danwood Group. The agreement will see the transfer of all Admiral’s copier operations to the Danwood Group with effect from 10 September 2010.

The move, says Admiral IT’s MD, David Stanton, will allows the group to focus on its “core strengths” of specialist communication, including telephony, IT systems and videoconferencing. Its comms vendors include Avaya, Mitel and Polycom.

The Danwood Group is Europe’s largest independent supplier of office printing equipment and document management solutions. The company has a turnover in excess of £195m per annum and employs more than 1,200 staff nationwide, including 300 engineers, looking after 74,000 machines in the field. Its print vendors include HP, Samsung, Xerox and Ricoh.

The copier business is worth £15m annually. Under the terms of the agreement, Admiral copier sales and service teams will transfer to Danwood ensuring, it says, copier customers benefit from “a seamless customer experience.”

Earlier this year, Danwood bought Gloucestershire-based imaging specialist Topaz Business Systems.
