Canon debuts business document scanners for the Mac

Canon has introduced imageFORMULA DR-2010M and DR-2510M as its first Mac-compatible business document scanner.

The SoHo market will find the DR-2010M appropriate for simple ad-hoc scanning, whilst the DR-2510M is suitable for the general office market for more robust, specific scanning tasks.

Both have the same technology, compact design, ease-of-use and reliable scanning properties of Canon’s equivalent scanners for Windows, boasting an output rate of colour scans at 20ppm and 25ppm respectively.

In fact the two scanners differ only from the Windows models in their sleek black design and integrated software. The bundle includes Canon’s new CaptureOnTouch software designed for quick and easy scanning, Presto! PageManager, a useful file management tool, and Presto! BizCard that converts and manages business contact details.

“We knew that the DR-2010C and DR-2510C Windows devices were both popular for their design and functionality and would thrive in a Mac environment,” said Trevor Dodsworth, head of Product Marketing, Canon Business Solutions, Canon UK. “Gartner has recently predicted that Apple will double its market share of computers in North America and Western Europe between 2008 to 2011. As Mac technology is becoming more widely used in the general business segments, away from its traditional home in the graphic design, architecture and media markets, it will become a key growth area for Canon over the coming years..”

The Canon imageFORMULA DR-2010M and DR-2510M are now available across Europe and are supplied with Windows ISIS and TWAIN drivers and a Windows version of CaptureOnTouch so they can also easily be used with PCs.
